AlloyDB adds Iceberg access in Preview and BigQuery sync generally available

Direct Iceberg access in AlloyDB for PostgreSQL is available for PostgreSQL 18 and later (in Preview). This feature lets you query Apache Iceberg tables in Cloud Storage or Lakehouse runtime catalog and accelerate analytical queries using the AlloyDB columnar engine.

For more information, see Access Iceberg data from AlloyDB.

Syncing data from BigQuery into AlloyDB is generally available (GA). This feature lets you copy or mirror analytical tables from BigQuery into AlloyDB for low-latency operational access using the alloydb_sync extension.

For more information, see Sync BigQuery data to AlloyDB.

AlloyDB Express is available in Preview for PostgreSQL 18. Optimized for rapid prototyping and for workflows that use AI coding agents, this configuration provides the following features:

  • Fast provisioning
  • Scale-to-zero compute when idle
  • A monthly free tier for the first 12 months of usage
  • One-click upgrades to AlloyDB for PostgreSQL

For more information, see AlloyDB Express overview.
