Looker Explore and merge query experience and bullet charts generally available

The ability to generate a summary of an Explore by using Gemini assistance is now generally available.

The bullet chart visualization type is now generally available. Bullet charts let you evaluate a single primary metric's performance as one or more bars and mark your goal with a target line. You can plot both against shaded background ranges that represent performance thresholds, such as "poor," "satisfactory," and "good." For more information, see Bullet chart options.

Looker Continuous Integration (CI) now supports hub-and-spoke projects. If your Looker project uses local project imports to import files from an upstream hub project on the same Looker instance, then you can use CI to automatically test downstream spoke projects. Testing runs whenever a pull request is opened or updated on the hub project. This capability lets you catch breaking changes in downstream Explores, content, or data tests before upstream LookML changes are merged. For more information, see Creating a Continuous Integration suite.

The Table Row Grouping feature and the Grouping menu options are now generally available. The Grouping menu options let you display and customize the appearance of table chart data hierarchically in groups.

The Visualization Assistant is now generally available.

Two new legacy features, Use Legacy Explore and Merge Query Experience and Use Legacy Explore and Merge Query Experience for Embed, are now available for Looker (original) and Looker (Google Cloud core) instances. These features let administrators configure Explores and merged queries to open in the classic experience by default across an instance or in embedded contexts. For more information, see Legacy feature schedule.

Looker now includes a new histogram chart visualization option. A histogram chart is a graphical representation of the data distribution of an attribute. A histogram creates intervals (bins) and counts how many values fall into each bin.

The KPI (Single Value) chart type is now generally available. The KPI (Single Value) chart type replaces the Single Value chart type.

The new Looker Explore and merge query experience is now generally available and is the default interface for Explores and for joining data from multiple queries.

When you enter values in a string filter on dashboards, Looks, or Explores, clicking Done or clicking outside the input field no longer creates a filter chip from uncommitted text. To create a filter chip, press Enter, enter a comma (,), or paste values into the input field.

The new Dashboard Tile Groups preview feature lets you organize related tiles into collapsible containers for improved visual organization. You can move, duplicate, or delete multiple tiles as a single unit on dashboards that use the newspaper layout. This update also adds LookML support for programmatically managing tile groups.

Now available in preview, the Release Changelog gives Looker users and administrators real-time visibility into the features, behavioral changes, and bug fixes that are available for their instance.

The Legacy features page is now available in the Admin panel for Looker (Google Cloud core) instances. Legacy features that appear on the Looker (Google Cloud core) Legacy features page might differ from those that are available on Looker (original) instances. For more information, see Looker (Google Cloud core) admin settings.
