Public Preview: GitHub Copilot app modernization expanded capabilities

Announcing new enhancements to GitHub Copilot App Modernization that are in Public Preview, making it easier than ever to modernize applications, databases, containers, and accelerate migration to Azure. Below are the new capabilities in public preview.  

For .NET applications:  

• New App Service Managed Instance as a target for easier migration of legacy Windows .NET apps (Public Preview) 

For Python applications: 

• For Python, customers can now migrate from semantic kernel to agent framework in Visual Studio Code  

Database Modernization:  

• Modernize PostgreSQL and SQL databases on Azure using the latest PostgreSQL extension (Public Preview) and the SQL Server modernization remains supported through the existing Azure Database Migration Service for SQL migration 

Portfolio Assessment Integration:

• Integrated portfolio assessment via GitHub Issues with Dr. Migrate and Azure Migrate, and CAST support coming soon. 

These capabilities help streamline modernization projects, reduce manual effort, and accelerate your journey to Azure.
