Generally Available: Azure Functions enables OpenTelemetry support

Azure Functions now supports OpenTelemetry in general availability (GA), enabling developers to export logs, traces, and metrics using open standards. This release builds on the public preview and delivers a production-ready observability experience for serverless applications.

With this GA release, Azure Functions delivers:

  • Unified observability – Standardize logs, traces, and metrics across your serverless workloads.
  • Vendor-neutral telemetry – Integrate with Azure Monitor or any OpenTelemetry-compliant backend.
  • Broad language support – Works with .NET (isolated), Java, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, and TypeScript.

Start using OpenTelemetry in Azure Functions today and bring modern, standards-based observability to your apps. View the documentation for step-by-step guidance on enabling OpenTelemetry and configuring exporters for your preferred backend.
