Generally Available: Vaulted Backup for Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)

Azure Backup vaulted protection for ADLS Gen2 delivers secure, off‑site backups to help organizations meet resilience and compliance goals. Vaulted backups maintain an independent copy of your data, isolated from the source account - providing protection against accidental deletion, malicious activity, and ransomware. 

 

Capabilities at a Glance: 

• Off‑site protection: Recover data safely by restoring to alternate storage accounts to support clean recovery workflows. 
• Automated & flexible scheduling: Configure daily or weekly backup policies and trigger on‑demand backups when needed. 
• Long‑term retention: Store backups for up to 10 years to meet compliance and archival requirements. 
• Security‑first design: Soft‑delete, immutability, encryption, and multi‑user authorization protect backup data in the vault. 

Scope and availability at GA: Vaulted backups can be configured for block blobs in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 accounts. General availability will start with a subset of the regions from Public Preview list. We will continue expanding to additional regions over the coming months.
