Generally Available: Azure SQL updates for November 2025

In November 2025, the following updates and enhancements were made to Azure SQL:  

  • Apply the reservation discount for a 1-year or 3-year reservation of a zone-redundant Azure SQL Managed Instance in the General Purpose tier to both the standard compute and the zone-redundancy add-on. Learn more.  

  • Optimize performance and costs by adding extra memory to Azure SQL Managed Instance. Learn more. 

  • New improvements in optimized locking further reduce the overhead of locks in the SQL database engine. Learn more.

  • Boost your SQL queries with powerful Regex support for advanced pattern matching. Learn more.
